And They Were Cool

And They Were Cool

$15.00

The new Giuseppi Logan CD of the June 2012 NYC session is in!
The follow up to the GIuseppi Logan Project on Kickstarter, And They Were Cool recaptures the compositional genius of Logan's sixties heyday.    Giuseppi Logan was a contemporary of Albert Ayler, John Coltrane and Pharaoh Sanders and an accomplished sax player, as well as clarinet, flute and piano player.  This pure free jazz album pairs Logan with young sax talent Jessica Lurie, an accomplished artist in her own right.   With improving health and a sound supporting cast (Larry Roland on bass and Ed Pettersen on guitar and effects). Logan's playing rivals the previous works for which he is reknown. Recorded at the highest fidelity and mastered by one of the great mastering engineers, And They Were Cool delivers on performance, fidelity and composition to create a rare gem for improv lovers to add to their collection.  Label:  Improvising Beings in partnership with the Mad King Edmund Collective.  CD only.

I Curse The River of Time: A Norwegian American Tale

I Curse The River of Time: A Norwegian American Tale

$30.00

Pettersen's new release "I Curse the River of Time: A Norwegian American Tale" is showcased in a beautiful art book that tells a fascinating tale of Pettersen's roots in the Arctic circle of Norway.   Inspired by time spent in Norway, the music draws on Norwegian literature for inspiration (the song Psalm at Journey's End draws characters from Eric Fosnes Hansen's book of the same name, and Siste Reis combines the American genre of murder ballads with the story of a young Norwegian girl who trusts in the wrong stranger)  coupled with observations from his travels.  The music is hauntingly beautiful with instrumentation that combines the best of folk and Americana.  This unique package comes in a slipcase and signed numbered limited edition of 1200 copies.   All pre-orders via this website may receive a free download of "Happening:A Movement in 12 Acts" featuring Freedy Johnston, Walter Egan, Mary Gauthier, Matthew Ryan and others.  It's Ed's free jazz operatta ode to the 99%.

Release Date: October, 2013

Giuseppi Logan Project CD

$9.99

This limited edition CD eco-wallet pressing of the iconic saxophone player is available now. Giuseppi Logan was a contemporary of Albert Ayler, John Coltrane and Pharaoh Sanders. An accomplished sax player, as well as clarinet, flute and piano player, Giuseppi became known for his free form compositional genius. Having studied at the New England Conservatory, in the sixties Logan was hailed as one of the bright lights of free jazz. In the seventies, Logan disappeared from view and remained lost to the music world for over 30 years. Around 2009 Logan was found playing for change in Tompkins Square Park and at the age of (now) seventy six after many hard years of living, still has a tremendous talent to cultivate. A New Yorker turned Nashville songwriter and producer, Ed Pettersen gathered Giuseppi, Cooper Moore and Larry Roland in Manhattan for a full day of recording in Oct 2011. The result is forty five minutes of tasteful improv playing featuring three new original compositions and Giuseppi’s unique twist on three classic jazz tunes.
